We are excited to announce that lot 07 remains the last available lot at Hudson Woods. This is the first Hudson Woods house constructed and it was held by us for the duration of the project. The house is furnished and appointed by our team and includes augmentations above and beyond many of the other Hudson Woods houses, including substantial landscaping work that has matured, a custom planter and firepit installation, a custom laundry room and other built-in shelving around the house, shades on select windows, etc.

The home has the traditional lower level entry layout with floor-to-ceiling windows in the great room and vaulted ceilings upstairs.

40 Ridgewood Road at Hudson Woods is now available for purchase. The home is unique at Hudson Woods with black cedar siding and black-stained mahogany windows. The 6.6 acre lot has mountain views and the studio on the property has its own wood stove.

We are excited to announce that Lang Architecture, the firm behind Hudson Woods is designing and developing a new project at Windham Mountain. The site is situated on 76.5 acres which was originally part of a copper mine. Today the site is prepared for construction of 9 single family homes and 25 town homes. The project is located at the base of Windham Mountain, minutes away from the ski area and resort and across the road from the Windham golf club.

This week, the Wall Street Journal wrote about Paul and Sheena Murphy, who were one of the early home buyers at Hudson Woods. Sheena is an interior designer whose work we have profiled in the past and her husband, Paul is a game designer and developer. The first black stained house at Hudson Woods was recently completed. Some photographs have been shared through our social media, and Wallpaper Magazine unveiled some of the new photography in February. Collected here are some of our favorite photos of the black cedar house. The black cedar creates a particularly striking contrast to the Mahogany window and door trim.

After a busy winter season, there are only 8 lots still available at Hudson Woods. Eighteen of the lots have been sold (approximately 70% of the lots). Sheena Murphy is a Brooklyn based designer and Principal at design studio sheep + stone. We have the pleasure of knowing Sheena from her involvement in the Hudson Valley where she finds inspiration and incorporates work from a number of local maker and artisan partners. Sheena describes her style as modern, eclectic, layered, mostly neutral and often masculine with a focus on materials, process + environment.

This Fall, our friends at Workstead, finished their fist full hotel project now open in the Hudson Valley. Workstead is a design studio, founded in 2009 by Stefanie Brechbuehler and Robert Highsmith, located in Brooklyn New York and the Hudson Valley, where they focus on architectural and interior design, lighting, furniture, and exhibitions. We have looked at the Workstead in a past post but recently they completed a charming 27-room hotel in Hudson, NY called the Rivertown Lodge.

With beautiful fall months approaching in the Catskills, construction at Hudson Woods continues to progress. Thirteen lots have been sold and a contract is out for Lot 1, there are only 6 lots left in "phase three" of the project. We anticipate that five of the homes sold will be move-in ready this fall including lots 11, 14, 16, 19 and 22. Additional lots are in various stages of construction and are slated to be completed any time between winter and spring of early 2016.

Walker Zanger has been a maker of handcrafted tile and stone for more than 60 years. They are known for their masterful mixing and marrying of materials, patterns, and colors utilizing traditional craftsmanship techniques. The Hudson Woods pool house pavilion is a modernist structure positioned alongside the Hudson Woods pool. Designed for year round use, the pool house includes a sauna, bathroom/changing room, kitchenette, outdoor shower and expansive outdoor storage.

Last week we looked at detail elements of Hudson Woods homes with windows and doors provided by Premier Custom Millwork. This week we’re focusing on another detail - the door hardware used throughout Hudson Woods homes. Every door handle is made of sand cast solid bronze using traditional artisan techniques. All hardware is made to order and assembled by hand in the foundry and studio at Sun Valley Bronze, a family owned and operated business of over 21 years.

Tucked above a sprawling antiques store in “downtown” Rhinebeck is Hundred Mile, a compact set of rooms filled with some very big names in design. Owners Kristina Albaugh and Josh Ingmire view it as their personal showroom where they display furniture, lighting, and accessories from dozens of designers one would usually only find in major metropolitan areas.
