Last week we looked at detail elements of Hudson Woods homes with windows and doors provided by Premier Custom Millwork. This week we’re focusing on another detail - the door hardware used throughout Hudson Woods homes. Every door handle is made of sand cast solid bronze using traditional artisan techniques. All hardware is made to order and assembled by hand in the foundry and studio at Sun Valley Bronze, a family owned and operated business of over 21 years.
The attention to detail has truly made a difference with most people commenting on the door handles when they visit the home. The holistic sensory experience is a fundamental element of the design down to every swing of the door.
Marc Cervarich of Sun Valley Bronze, said it best, “Sometimes builders, architects, and designers don’t see or really appreciate the hardware and don’t think it makes much of a difference. Hudson Woods does and appreciates the difference hardware makes compared to others. Quality, finish, warranty, service, and made in the USA was something they would not part with and as you can see in the end result of the home, it’s beautiful and first class.”
We choose the flat lever handle mounted on a gate latch passage set for the Dutch door at the entrance and tube lever handle, pictured below, for all interior room doors.
The sliding barn doors on the garage/studio space and the master bathroom feature the Squash Court Flush Pull handle pictured in the photo above. In the kitchen we went with the Edge Mount Pull for kitchen cabinets and island drawers. The fully integrated SMEG fridge also features custom handles from Sun Valley.
