Fern Handcrafted was one of our first journal entries when we launched the Hudson Woods blog. It has been over a year since and many exciting things have transpired. We wanted to share some new items in the Fern shop as well as highlight specific items we selected to furnish the Hudson Woods model house.
For those of you unfamiliar, Fern makes hand-crafted furniture. Originally founded in Brooklyn, NY by Jason Roskey and Maggie Goudsmit in 2009, they moved two years later they to the Hudson Valley which has become a burgeoning source of contemporary design and a place of inspiration from the region’s long furniture tradition. The Hudson Valley allows Fern access to some of the country’s finest hardwoods and a growing creative community. Their 1,000-square-foot space at 243 Warren Street in Hudson, N.Y. displays Fern’s furniture and accessories alongside lighting from Workstead and weavings by New Friends.
The Sawyer Club Chair, found in the Hudson Woods den, is a generously proportioned occasional chair with a hand carved seat. Shown in Claro Walnut with options available in Eastern Black Walnut, Maple (natural, bleached or oxidized) and Cherry.
The Spring Credenza shown here in ebonized Ash casing, Oxidized Maple front, black saddle leather pulls and walnut interiors is also available in a variety of woods and materials.
Found in the guest bedroom and great room, the Swell Stool is hand turned and carved with a comfortable 16-inch diameter seat.
We also like the The Sawyer Bench. It features a hand carved seat and is available with or without arms.
